Ella's Pottery Project

There is little that children can do in a hospital and we all know how art or the act of creating can relieve stress and deter the mind in a joyful manner. If this was something that Ella enjoyed, we are sure that many other children will, too.

And you can help...

Every quarter, a goal of 100 kits will be made & delivered to local hospitals and extended care facilities for children. With the support of local residents purchasing a kit, organization donations and volunteer packers - we can bring a creative joy to a child. Sign up below for our e-newsletter for updates.

How to buy a kit...

Find our sign at these local retailers and for a $4 donation, you can write a message on an Ella's Pottery Project tag that will be attached to a kit then delivered to a child.

DECOY ART STUDIO

Ella's Story...

Ella Phillips-Shimovetz is a 5 year old girl who is fighting cancer. She started her journey on May 7th, 2016 with a diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma of the biliary tract. She completed 42 weeks of chemotherapy and 28 days of proton radiation. She was off treatment for about 8 months when they found something during her quarterly routine scans. They biopsied the mass and again it showed Rhabdomyosarcoma. This time the tumor was located on the other side of her abdomen. She started treatment again in November of 2017. She is currently undergoing treatment at Cincinnati Childrens. She always loves to do crafts during treatments, and Decoy Art Studio is one of her favorite places to go when she is able. As a celebration gift, she was sent to the hospital for her (what was to be) last chemo treatment with a pottery to go kit. Sitting on her hospital bed she was able to paint and be a kid...creating and enjoying herself. And so this project bloomed - inspired by Ella.
